Founded in the late 1920s, this school was the first Afro- American high school in Albemarle County. It closed in the early 1950s with the opening of Burley High School in Charlottesville, Va. for both city and county Afro-American students. Mary Carr Greer was a teacher and principal at the Albemarle Training School.
